When Belief is Stronger Than Doubt

This story is for you if you feel like your power of belief could use a boost. Meet Kiera—a little girl who unknowingly demonstrated the laws of the universe in the most magical way.

The following is an excerpt from my upcoming memoir:
Transformed: From Man to Woman; From Calamity to Compassion; Why Wholeness is the New Success!

An Ordinary Day with an Extraordinary Lesson

Back in 1999, I took my two kids out for an early dinner after school. They cheered with excitement when I suggested their favorite spot—Denny’s off Interstate 5. It was a warm, hazy Southern California fall afternoon, the kind that makes you wonder if a Santa Ana wind is brewing.

Dinner was simple and predictable—chicken strips and fries with ketchup, their usual order. As always, our favorite server, Thomas, was there to greet us. Thomas was over six feet tall, had neatly combed blonde hair, and had the kind of fantastic attitude that made everyone feel special.

After dinner, Kiera spotted a shiny new penny on the floor. She held it up excitedly and asked, “Look, I have money! Can I go play the machine now?”

Her older brother Hagen laughed, “It takes quarters to play that machine.”
But to Kiera, money was money. She believed without hesitation that her penny was enough.

The Power of Unwavering Belief

Rather than correcting her, I decided to let the moment unfold.
She marched confidently toward the claw machine by the cashier, holding her penny high in the air.

At that very moment, two gentlemen were paying their bill. One of them noticed Kiera and, as if scripted in a Hollywood movie, he stopped her and said, “Oh no, honey, you need two of these to play that game.”

Then, in an unexpected act of generosity, he handed her two quarters in exchange for her penny.

Without hesitation, Kiera dropped the quarters into the machine, maneuvered the claw, and pressed the button.

At first, the claw got stuck in the pile of stuffed animals. Normally, it would come back empty—but not this time.

This time, the claw grabbed TWO stuffed animals and dropped them into the chute!

With sheer excitement, Kiera squealed with joy and bounced up and down, clutching her two prizes to her chest. “See! I did it! I did it!!!”

The Universe Always Gives Back

That day, Kiera unknowingly demonstrated two powerful universal truths:

  1. Believing is seeing. Most people think they need to “see it to believe it,” but the reality is that unwavering belief comes first.
  2. When you add love to anything, it always turns out better. Kiera believed in her success without doubt, and the universe responded by doubling her reward.

The power of belief and love creates miracles—and Kiera’s innocent faith proved that when we trust without limitations, the universe always provides.

Are You Limiting Your Dreams?

Now, I ask you:

  • Have you disconnected from the unwavering belief in your dreams?
  • Have you put conditions on your success?
  • Are you remembering to infuse love and passion into your goals?
